Pentaxia

About Us

Company History:

Pentaxia was founded in 2008 by Stephen Ollier, Adam Norris & John Norris with a focus to supply the UK composite industry and motorsport teams with 5-axis machined patterns. The business was based in a small industrial unit, centrally located in Derby. To this day, Stephen (Managing Director) and Adam (Production Director) continue to play an active role within the business.  John Norris retired in 2015, whilst Russ Meddes recently joined the team as Business Development Director.

Location & Footprint:

The company quickly outgrew the original industrial unit and relocated to newly built premises nearby. As the business grew, so did the footprint – acquiring additional adjoining industrial units within the vicinity.  In 2017 Pentaxia moved to a much larger six acre site with a 70,000sq ft building specially designed for high volume efficient composite manufacture.  The current Alfreton Road site provides considerable space for future expansion.

Machining DNA:

5-axis machining runs in Pentaxia’s DNA and still acts as a major business capability, supporting our advanced composites division. With four 5-axis machines on-site we can ensure we’ve extensive capacity at all times. In addition, we also have 3-axis machining resources with two HAAS VM3 machines.

Advanced Composite Engineering:

In 2011, the business moved into advanced composites manufacturing, driven by a fast developing customer demand towards a “turnkey” composite supply approach. It was at this stage we purchased our first autoclave and took the leap into advanced composite production.  We currently operate four high specification autoclaves.

Continual Investment, Business Growth and “family” Ownership:

As the Pentaxia business has grown, so have our capabilities.  The business is privately owned, and we’re proud to be family run, this enables a dynamic approach to our investment strategy, expansion and growth. If we need it and can demonstrate a business case, we typically invest (often ahead of forthcoming requirements).

Business growth has led us into many new, diverse engineering sectors and as we’ve grown we’ve carved a strong reputation specifically in aerospace (AS9100 accredited), luxury automotive, defence and high technology/bespoke advanced composite tooling and composite manufacturing.

Our Deliverables:

We never over promise and we deliver capability and predictability, which is vital to our customer base.  We’ve demonstrated time and again to our customers we’re a dependable pro-active business, underpinned extensively by a highly experienced management team.

It is these key aspects which have driven the business to what it has become today – one of the fastest growing advanced engineering companies in Europe.

What makes our strategy different?:

Our Managing Director has over forty years experience as a professional engineer and previously spent over twenty years as a Director of various multinational companies, building high growth engineering focussed businesses and joint-ventures in a range of market sectors. This corporate thinking helped lay the foundation for Pentaxia to succeed and aggressively grow within the UK, European and wider global composite market by implementing scalable systems not typically utilised by SME’s.

Joining the business in 2017, our Business Development Director has brought a fresh perspective to the organisation, having previously worked within a highly corporate focussed UK specialist engineering plc. With extensive experience and knowledge of international sales and business development this has directly impacted Pentaxia’s expansion into new sales territories both in the UK and internationally.

New Business Opportunities:

We are continually working on new ideas and technology, because we know what we do today will not be good enough to be competitive tomorrow!
