Earlier in the year, we received an interesting proposal from Dan Bigham of HUUB Wattbike and Dean Jackson of HUUB Ltd. As HUUB have quickly established themselves as worldwide leaders in their field and fantastic advocates for Derby (even going so far as to create the brand of People’s Republic of Derbados), this was always going to be an exciting proposal to work locally but with a global outreach.

As an independent UCI Track Team, HUUB Wattbike has established a reputation for achieving great things on an international platform including winning world championships, world cups and commonwealth games medals. Any opportunity to contribute to their success could not be turned down.

So Pentaxia helped create and manufacture the team’s base bars and extensions. The aim was to deliver a product that was lightweight, watt saving and aerodynamic that would be ready for the 2019/2020 Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup and would help the team with their agenda to win medals and achieve iconic world records. As the key question for the team is ‘how do you keep getting faster?’ developing and improving the team equipment is essential and Pentaxia was happy to support the team in this quest.

The World Cup takes place over the coming months and the team will be competing in Belarus, Glasgow and Brisbane.  At time of writing the team had achieved sixth place in the team event in Minsk with John Archibald winning silver in the individual pursuit. With Glasgow taking place 8-10 November we can expect more success stories from these extraordinary athletes from Derbados!
